Modern calligraphy is very popular and so is writing on anything to make it personalized and custom! The great thing about modern calligraphy is that it is more forgiving than traditional calligraphy and it's fairly easy to pick up and learn how to do it. However, it does take practice. It's amazing how a little bit of practice can quickly improve your writing in this new style. One other trick, is save what you write so that you can see how you are improving and sometimes the next day when you go back and look at it, it might not be so bad! I do that trick with cards as well. We sell lots of modern calligraphy products in our store. However, we did get in a new metallic watercolor set from Gansai Tambi that is amazing! You simply wet the ink and then paint the ink onto your pointed calligraphy pen or you can also use a detailed brush. The brush pen is how I did the samples below.

We love this new die from Memory Box (English Rose Collage)! They have done this style of die on a few different images but I think this English Rose version is one of my favorites! They are all perfect with a watercolor background. However, with all of the detail on this die, it can be tricky to get the colors in the correct spot! There isn't a rule that you need to have the leaves green and flowers pink but for some reason I thought that it looked better this way.
This is what the die looks like when it's cut out.
To figure out where I want to put each color, I die cut the die in vellum paper and then placed the vellum over the area in the correct spot on the card so that it would line up.
Even though I colored in the cut out spaces on the vellum, it didn't matter to expand the watercolor area. So I went back and filled in with more color so that the die cut over lay would have a little more flexibility.

It's always exciting when there is a new Memory Box release. It never disappoints and the excitement of looking over every detail of what is new can take hours. Just when I think, there couldn't possibly be anything more that I need, I can always find a few treasures that I can't live without. This would be the case with this new die!
This new die is called the English Rose Collage. I love how they did the watercolor background and then die cut the image to go above the watercolor. Beautiful!

We got a new shipment of washi tape in! We love our metallic foil washi tape. We received the perfect color combinations of metallic gold foil stripes, dots & pinapples in yellow, pink and mint. They are amazing! We know you'll love them as much as we do.

Hero Arts came out with a great release at CHA this year. This goldfish set is just one of several new clear sets. It's easy to layer the fish to create a depth with various colors.
This set is very detailed and even the eye can be stamped individually.

This little clear set is adorable and we love the tiny stars that she used for the belly of the bird! Check back to see if we have these available in our store or online. They are popular and go quickly! A card like this has so many details with coloring and layering. Even to see the detail with the white pen on the umbrella and cheeks of the chick.
