  • Weekend Project: Glitter Iron On Bunny's

This is such a cute idea that Shari came up with.  We love it!  It's perfect for a weekend project.  We sell iron-on glitter paper!  It comes in 12x12 sheets in a variety of colors and works great on our muslin bags.  You can die cut just about any shape!  You die cut or cut out the shape with the iron-on glitter paper. You will be able to tell that the rough side you want face down onto the cloth or paper that you are ironing.  Then, you put a cloth between the iron-on and iron.  Iron for a few minutes and then test to see if you did it long enough. There is a plastic cover and that should peel up easily.  If it doesn't want to separate, then just iron for a little bit longer.  The plastic cover will peel off and then you'll have your finished product.  We've even ironed on paper before!

  • Bunny Confetti

We love sequins, glitter and confetti!  We recently got in pink and white leaping bunny confetti that is perfect for a shaker card or to glue on a card.  The hello die with frame is easy to use for a shaker card.  First, we die cut using gold mirror paper.  Then, cut a piece of acetate to cover the frame.  Then, around the edges we use mounting tape to create the depth and then this help to keep the shaker materials in it's place.  Finally, you will place your filled rectangle onto your card.  You can mount this directly onto your card or layer it.

  • Weekend Project: Marbling Paper

This marbling kit arrived in the stores this week and is a perfect weekend project!  It's extremely easy to do and you will have beautiful marble paper in a matter of a few minutes.  All you need is a clean tray.  I used my glass 9.5 x 11 baking dish.  You'll need water and paper without sizing. This is important because the dye will attach better to paper that doesn't have sizing.  I went to my local art store and they directed me to the correct paper that I was looking for.

This marbling kit has 6 different colors and you can use any combination.  It comes with these small paper disks.  You put the disks in the water and you drop the ink onto the disks.  The ink will spread onto the water.  I took a toothpick and made patterns in the water.  Then, you simply lay the paper onto the water and pull them out.  I placed the marbled paper on some newsprint to let them dry.  You can get several sheets of paper marbled with one initial set up.  Each paper will get lighter and lighter.  Then I dumped the water and started over again.  It's fun to have some custom paper in your stash!  Have a great weekend!

  • Washi Tape Easter Egg

    IMG_2812 IMG_2813

It's fun to create different cut out shapes using washi tape.  I will typically look at my collection of washi tapes and put together a combination of colors and textures.  I like to mix and match patterns with solids and then toss in some glitter tape as well.  I roll them out on paper creating my pattern and then will die cut the shape through the die cut machine.  This egg shape (#30072 half a dozen eggs) is nice because you get a variety of sizes.  Other products used: grass die (10093) and Happy Easter stamp (5460C).

  • New Waffle Flower Stamp Set

We have had our eye on this company for awhile and were thrilled to see them at CHA this year. They have some fresh ideas and some adorable clear stamp sets and dies.  Here is the Flower Leafy stamp set that we used for our store displays.  We thought it had a good collection of images to create some fun projects.

waffle-flower-peerless-watercolor-stripe (558x640)I love stripes and love the look of hand painted stripes as well.  I used the Peerless Transparent Watercolor to brush wide stripes onto the watercolor paper.  I did that first and let the watercolor dry, about 15 minutes, it dries really quickly.  Next, I stamped the images using Versafine black ink.  I stamped the top portion of the solid flower image using Fresh Ink tomato red. Tip: I like to use a broad brush for making stripes!  I think the Ranger Artist Brush Set has great brushes for the price.

I always like to do this easy white embossing watercolor look on cards.  You first will stamp images on watercolor paper using Versamark ink pad and stamp a pattern.  I've been using the Hero white embossing powder lately and it seems to work really well.  The end result seems to always be smooth and glossy.  Not grainy like others.  I'm not sure if there is any rule of thumb, but I will watercolor the background first.  I let that dry and then I will go back and watercolor the smaller items, like the flowers and leaves.  There are many different watercolor paints and sets out there.  For some reason, I keep going back to my Koi set.  I must like those colors.  For the greeting, I embossed with white on black paper.  Another TIP: look at your word stamps and think of different ways to use them.  I like to do this trick because you can change the format of the word stamp so that it will work on your card layout better.  For example, single line word stamps could be changed to two lines.

    waffle-flower-wide-pink-stripe (480x640)

Creating watercolor washes for backgrounds is an easy and super fast way to create a card with dimension.  I've always loved using some type of background when stamping your featured stamps on a card.  This watercolor trend is our new background stamp!  The fun thing is that you can create any pattern you want and each background is unique.  I've never met a stripe that I didn't like!  This paper is from the My Mind's Eye "On Trends 2" 6x6 paper pack.  I'll have a few more samples later in the week using this paper pack!  Hope you enjoy this new Waffle Flower stamp set as much as we do.  Stop by the store to see many more of their sets and dies!
